30-04-2014 -- Beetle study 2
This is a "Hercules Beetle", also member of the Rhino Beetles. Was lots of fun to draw, but it was difficult also. I love drawing different things and animals/ nature, so certainly a new challenge that I completed
Information from Wiki: "The Hercules beetle (Dynastes hercules) is the most famous and largest of the rhinoceros beetles. It is native to the rainforests of Central America, South America, and the Lesser Antilles. The beetle has also been observed as far north as Southern Veracruz in Mexico. Their title is well deserved, with some able to lift more than 850 times (up to 8 kg lifted) their own weight and some males, rarely, reaching 17 cm (6.75 inches) in length. It is the largest of the six species in the Dynastes genus, and one of the largest beetles known."
